I found myself driving home from work a few days ago, and had to pull over with camera in tow because I was
quite literally watching smoke from the Rim Fire in Yosemite roll over the mountains.
Fortunately, I had just posted a photo from a clear day in the exact same spot, and comparisons can be fun, unless you are being dumped because of a comparably more attractive woman. THEN comparisons aren't fun. But most of the time, fun.
Just a quick update on the Rim Fire: The fire has burned 224,777 acres and is 45% contained to date in Yosemite National Park. The road from where I live that goes to Yosemite Valley has been closed (Hwy 120, Tioga Pass), Tuolumne Meadows remains open, but smokey. Clif hasn't been assigned any fire duties, but helped evacuate horses from areas by the fire, and has been busy telling people up-to-date information with the rest of the wilderness branch in Tuolumne.

A warm sun shining through red-tinged smoke. |
